History of the Oak Ridge Alumnae Chapter

Regional Director of the Dynamic and Visionary Southern Region with fifteen (15) financial members.
The torch of the 703rd Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was ignited in the Oak Ridge
community, “The City Behind the Gates.” The newly formed chapter delved wholeheartedly into
various community activities, making DELTA a force to be reckoned with in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Oak Ridge Alumnae has continued to its hard work through the years.  Leading to its silver anniversary,
the chapter hosted the 20th National President, Soror Bertha M. Roddy, May 2006 at the Children’s
Defense Fund Haley Farm.  Soror Roddy inspired the sorors as well as facilitated the rights of passage
program for our girls of the Academy and Gems.  ORAC celebrated 25 years of working in the community
with great flourish.  Four young ladies were brought into our sisterhood during the month of April.  Our
23rd National President, Soror Louise Rice was the keynote speaker at our Silver Jubilee Celebration
May 25, 2007.  We completed the calendar year by hosting the Tennessee State Cluster where over 300
sorors from the region gathered in the secret city of Oak Ridge to learn, share, and bond.
